This premium Shiraz has a bright, deep ruby color with a purple hue. On the nose, you’ll find scents of dense, ripe, dark black cherry and blackberry fruit with subtle spices. As this wine is matured for 24 months in a combination of French and American oak, you’ll find toasted woody, vanilla and clove notes. This is a medium to full-bodied wine, which is long and fine on the palate, with soft gentle tannins, buoyant acidity and a lengthy finish. This is a rich, compelling wine with plenty of flavor, typical of Shiraz in the Barossa.
This generous, fruity, fairly full-bodied red wine needs a larger wine glass (if the glass is too small, then you won’t smell the fruit and the wine will seem too alcoholic). So use a large red wine glass and try to serve around 18 degrees Celsius (not too warm and not too cold!). Such a fully-flavored wine will pair well with rich meat dishes, whether BBQ or roasted or stewed. It’s also a friend to other umami rich foods like mushrooms of many types. You can’t really go wrong with pairing this wine with food, along as you avoid fish and sweet dishes! Enjoy!
