This wine is 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Carignan and 15% Cinsault. The 2017 was the driest vintage they’ve experienced in 30 years, leading to a very small, but high quality, harvest.
This plush red wine should be served in a large glass at around 13-15ºC. Try to ensure it is not warmer; otherwise the wine will smell too alcoholic and lose some of its fresh fruit aromas.
Rhône Blends are well known for working with a wide variety of meat-based dishes, playing equally well with beef, pork, lamb or game. Braised beef cheeks, grilled steak or sausages, roasted pork and squab (pigeon) are all fine pairings. When dining locally, pair the same way, with Chinese pork, chicken or even grilled lamb.
Jean Pierre Perrin established La Vieille Ferme over 35 years ago, when he chose to produce straightforward Rhône wines priced at a reasonable cost.
The Perrin Family is the leading organic wine grower of the Southern Rhône valley where they occupy the region’s best terroirs. Their family values have given them a worldwide reputation for excellence: Absolute respect for the soil, a commitment to manual methods and a deep belief that organic viticulture is the only way to express the true essence of the terroir.
The Perrins craft wines of amazing quality in several different areas of the Southern Rhône, but the family’s crown jewel is the renowned Château de Beaucastel estate in Chateauneuf du Pape – one of the world’s classic top-end wines.
