Riesling is a truly noble grape variety and is beautifully expressed in this classic Mosel Riesling. With a typical pale lemon-green colour, this wine has quintessential green apple, lemon, with a hint of honey and distinct white flower character, combined with some stony/flinty notes. On the palate, you’ll find very refreshing acidity balancing the residual sugar in what is a medium-dry style of wine with lovely Mosel green apple, green pear and floral flavours. The great advantage to this wine is its naturally low alcohol; so it’s both delicate, but full of flavour and can be enjoyed over several glasses!

This wine is from an old family-run and owned winery located in the heart of one of Germany’s most famous wine-growing regions, the Mosel. The property is tiny, just 6 hectares, but it has some fine slopes that are planted to Germany’s most noble grape: Riesling.

This is a Kabinett-style wine. The name of the style (Kabinett) comes from the word for cupboard (or cabinet) and indicates that this wine is good enough for the winemaker to keep it in his or her cabinet: thus having some degree of ageability. Mosel Kabinett wines are generally very elegant with a lightness and finesse that is highly praised all over the world. They have very high acidity, which means that the wine is kept a bit sweet in order to balance the high acidity correctly; and it is this wonderful balance which makes these type of Rieslings the favourite wine of so many wine experts, including the likes of Jancis Robinson MW and Hugh Johnson.
