The grapes used in this wine are 80% Merlot and 20%
Cabernet Franc. This wine has a deep ruby red colour with
an intense bouquet full of red and black plum fruit and
distinct oaky notes (vanilla, toast, smoke). The palate has
robust tannins, some modest acidity, ripe berry flavours
and a savoury finish. This wine has been aged in new
French oak barrels which has added complex aromas of
toast and smoke, without overpowering the juiciness of the
fruit.

Chateau La Croix Bonneau is a modest property of four hectares in the village of Montagne, which lies
just to the north of Saint-Emilion in Bordeaux. The estate was bought in 2005 by Eric Salmon and his
family. From the outset, their aim was to improve quality in the small vineyard and cellar. Eric lowered yields by reducing the number of buds on the vine and by green harvesting in the summer, both of
which improved the ripeness of the grapes. The nearly 40 year-old vines are hand harvested and several sortings take place prior to fermentation in small stainless steel tanks and maturation in new oak.
