This wine is a blend of the classic regional grapes, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Barroca. On the label you’ll see the golden oriole (‘papa figos’ in Portuguese), one of the rarest birds in the Douro region. An attractive, brightly-coloured migratory bird, its uniqueness and rarity make it the inspiration for this lovely wine.

This wine is deep ruby in colour. On the nose, you’ll find some of the classic ripe fruit of the Douro with an enticing blend of ripe red and black fruits: everything from red plums to blueberries with a touch of violet. A lighter expression than some of the Douro’s heavier reds, this wine is off-dry with moderate ripe tannins, some lifting acidity and a nice core of attractive ripe fruit. Very moreish!

Casa Ferreirinha is a wine producer best known for making one of Portugal's most esteemed wines – the rare and iconic Barca Velha. It is located in the Douro Valley, and was founded by Bernardo Ferreira in the 18th Century.

In the late 1970s Casa Ferreirinha purchased Quinta da Leda, located in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, along with its vineyards. The estate now produces grapes on its 160 hectares (395 acres) of vineyards.

Since 1987, the estate has been owned by Sogrape Vinhos, a family-owned wine company with a portfolio of around 16 Portuguese wine brands, well-known in Portgual and around the world.
